Diary Entry

Over the weekend I took photographs of my story board which I drew on post stick notes as it was easier to move them around if I changed my mind. After I took the photos I uploaded them on to my laptop where I arranged them each on a slide on PowerPoint writing at the top what camera angle and cut it is and how many seconds it will last for at the bottom. On the side of the photo I wrote down what is happening in the image as well as what sort of effects I will add. Along with the description I wrote down which part of the song it will fit in to by writing down the lyrics.

Story Board

Inspiration

This first video was used as inspiration as it fits the conventions we're looking for such as the dancing and singing in random places as well as the bright colour. Another reason we used this video is because we liked the idea if the confetti near the end of the video which we've taken the idea used in our story board.



This second video by Chris Brown as a scene where he's singing as glitter balls are falling around him which gave us a good idea to use the similar idea in our video as the word glitter comes up a lot.

Audition Poster

These are audition posters which I've created for back up dancers in our music video. I've created two posters because I really liked the designs of both of them and decided to use them both.

Synopsis

Our music video shows our lead singer on the bus listening to the music on her head phones as she falls a sleep. She then wakes up and starts singing to the music while on the bus and all the passengers appear to be wearing colourful clothing and start dancing behind the singer as back up dancers. The story shows the singer traveling around London on foot eveywhere from the London Bridge to the busy Central London dancing and singing. However the song soon ends and she wakes up on the bus to fidn out that it was all a dream.

Diary Entry

Today in lesson we had to write our synopsis of our music video but my group still hadn't chosen an idea for the videoso we sat down for half an hour and came up with our synopsis. After we noted down our idea we started our story board on post stick notes so that its easy to move them around if any was to be changed. While drawing out our story board we took images of each post stick so that we can upload it to out blog as well as having our chosen music play while we draw our story board out so we can time how long each scene would last.

Another thing we discussed in lesson was planing auditions for back up dancers for the music video. We want people who are confident to be able to dance in front of crowds as the video will be shot in areas in London which are always full of pass byers. Also we had to think how we will try get an empty bus to shoot the bus scenes in so decided to try call up a bus station to ask permission or a bus driver who would be willing to let up shoot on his bus while he is on break.

I just finished and uploaded some extra research for my music video on to my blog which has helped me further with my project. The first thing I uploaded was me and my group using photoshop to test it out so that we know how it works. My partner in the project already knows how to use photoshop but I dont so he gave me a few lesson's on how to use it in class.

The second research I did was about our target audience for out music video music. I did a power point on who are mostly the target audiences for Jessie J and when in to research what sub culture they belong to as well as what their dislikes and likes are so that we could incorporate any of these things in our music video or digipak or magazine cover.

On another post I said that I would design the outfit that the lead singer will wear on our music video so I went and researched in to what type of clothing Jessie J wears and also what type of clothes fit the genre of her music which I could emerge together to make an ourfit suitable to the conventions.

Tuesday 29th November 2011

Today we presented out proposal to our class and got a few feedbacks to help improve our idea for our music video. Once we had presented we were told that we might find it difficult to shoot some of our clips on the bus so we decided to use a empty bus which wasn't running so that it'll be easier for the dancers to dance and also for the camera to stay still other wise our if we were on a moving bus then the camera will start shaking.

Another feedback that was given was about our costumes. At first we had the idea of just getting our singer to wear something of her own clothes but then we changed our mind to designing our own clothes for the singer which has the same conventions of Jessie J's style of clothing but our own designs.

Some of our shots for the music video was planned to be shot at night but we were told that it was a bad idea as the shots will come out too dark so we decided to use the green screen in the studio and create moonlight background to match some of the words from the lyrics in the song.

We also decided to use some effects on the music video such as words from the song popping up when its sung like Kanye Wests music video Gold digger.

Chosen Song

Our final song is Jesse J's Domino song as it has a good beat that we can use to make a good story music video to as well as play around with then lyrics of the song.

Music Video Research

We researchjed in to other music videos as we had to find a song that had a up beat track to it so we decided to look at RnB music and searched mostly female artists

Underneath are some music videos from RnB female artists such as Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys and many more. We didnt want to just look at all dance type music from the artists but also slow songs which have a beat that a dance could be performed to.

We also looked at the music videos to see if their videos are good or bad so that we could make a remake of it but then we decided to also look at ones that are recently new which dont have a video to it, so that the ideas are new and original.

The things that we looked at to analyse is the genre of music and if it fits the music video, the type of music video it is, the target audience, the costumes and prop, mise en scene and the actors that feature in it.



















This video is by Alicia Keys and is a slow sad song. The things that we have analysed in this video is that it has a storyline to relate to the song.

Our first choice

My group chose to do Coldplay Viva La Vida as our music for our music video but we were told by our teacher that the beat to the song wasn't good enough to make a music video to.
